214 - - schloms47@aol.com - I am in the process of doing family history on my husband's family and I am having no end of trouble trying to trace the Taylor branch. This is what I have so far: James Forrest Taylor b:12 Jan 1862 in Henryville, Clark, In.. His parents were: William Franklin Taylor b: 1825 Henryville, Clark,In; d: 11 Nov 1858 in In; m: Rachel Jane Johnson on 11 Nov 1858 in In. Rachel was born around 1832 in Va and died after 1880. William Franklin Taylor's parents were, I believe, William Taylor b: Oct 1850 in Monroe, Il. He may have married an Elizabeth. That's about all I have at this point. Thanks so much for any help you can give me

213 - - taylortj@cox.net - I am looking for information regarding my great, great, grandpa Simon Peter Taylor (m. Sarah McClain), son of George Taylor (m. Jane McClain), son of Rev. George Washington Taylor (1790) & (m. Francis Jones) son of Rev. Zachary Taylor (m. Alice Chew). This is in the line of James I (1610) & James II (1674). These 4 generations are a little foggy in the information I have.

212 - - lynbal102@yahoo.com - TAYLORS OF WELLFLEET, MA. Hi. I'm looking to trace my great grandfather's ancestory. He was WILLIAM EBEN TAYLOR, possibly born around the 1870's but, I'm not sure where. I was told that his Taylor descendents came over from England in 1631 and had settled in the area that is now known as Effingham, New Hampshire. He married Jerusha Foster Elliott in Wellfleet, MA on 07/03/1898 and her English ancestors date back to the Hopkins family who came over to Plymouth, MA, in 1620 on the Mayflower. She died in Wellfleet on 10/24/1878. They had 12 children with first and middle names as follows: Stacy Ryder (son) born 01/28/1899; Hattie Gertrude born 5/26/1900; Lauretta Blackman born 03/19/1902; Jerusha Elliott born 02/07/1904; Elizabeth Austin born 6/19/1906; William Eben Taylor, Jr. born 06/04/1908; Leola May born 1/17/1910; Elnora Foster born 1/4/1912; Elwood Stetson born 3/29/1914; Lloyd Richard born 4/16/1916 or 1917; Flora Aydelotte born 3/9/1918; Caroline born 3/2/1920. He had 2 brothers and 1 sister but, I don't know their names but, one brother was nicknamed and called 'Hap'. People use to call him 'Captain' as he had skippered a 60 ft yacht at the Sea Scout Camp in the 1940's-1950's. He later went on to buy it. He had lost both legs after an accident in which he fell off a roof top while working on it. He had been a mason/carpenter

211 - - deckervetty04@aol.com - There has been much debate over the father of Jesse Taylor b. 1791. I found a will dated 18 Dec 1814 and proved 20 Feb 1815 in Norfolk Co., VA by William Taylor. In it he names his wife, Sarah and the following children: Jesse Taylor, Richard Taylor, Joshua Taylor, Nancy Taylor, William Taylor who had a son Andrew, Betsey Taylor Ives, Sally Taylor Horton, and Molly Taylor Hayes. The married names of his daughters caught my attention because these names have been passed down in my family through oral tradition. It would be logical that Grief Taylor would know his aunts and that Berry would know his great-aunts. It is even possible that Joshua Taylor would know his great great aunts or have access to that information. It is reasonable that the next two generations mixed the names of family members. Is there anyone that can help me with information on this William Taylor of Norfolk Co., VA and his family?

207 - - mtaylorfamily@sbcglobal.net - John Thomas Taylor b. July 14, 1842 - Rock Hill (?) South Carolina d. Feb 1 1897 - Cleveland County, Arkanas. My father in law said he died when a tree fell on him while clearing the family farm. He is buried at Union Cemetery, Rye, Arkansas. Married Julia Nichols after the Civil War in South Carolina. She was the daughter of Thomas Nichols and Martha Ferguson. Both were members of the Harmony Baptist Church in Chester County, South Carolina before coming to Cleveland County, Arkansas via Muscadine, Cleburne County, Alabama. I have been told that Julia was the sister of a Civil War friend of John Thomas named John Nichols. They came to Arkansas together. This I verified with some older relatives from the Nichols family. John Thomas also had a sister, Sarah (b approx 1830), who shows as living with John Thomas and Julia in South Carolina and Alabama, but not Arkansas. Their first child, Martha, was born in South Carolina and while she shows up in the Alabama census, she does not show in Arkansas. Their last child, George, shows up in Alabama but not in Arkansas. Our older family members here were not aware of Mary and George until I started my search. The children of John Thomas (known as Thomas here in Arkansas) and Julia are: Martha - b. 1870 SC Mary J - b. 1873 AL - d. 1/24/1897 AR William Thomas Alexander (my husband's great grandfather - also known as Ellic or E.T.) b. 1875 AL d. 1965 AR John N. - b. 1876 - AL d. 8/12/1959 AR Robert E. - b. 1877 AL d. 1/18/1941 AR George - b. approx 1880 AL Vesti Ann - b 1882 - d date unknown in AR Lona b 1886 AR - d 1/10/1961 AR Emma - b. 1886 (?) AR d. 10/28/1974 AR Della - b 1888 AR - d 8/31.1918 AR Etta - b 1889 AR When John Thomas died, Julia and the younger children lived with William Thomas Alexander and his new wife, Lucy Curry Taylor. She never remarried, and according to older relatives, wore black from the day her husband died until her death in 1925. It is told that she received a $25 per month Civil War pension - I have found her brother - John Jackson Nichols - Civil War information but there were ALOT of John Taylors fighting in South Carolina! Have not been able to pin it down. Most of John Thomas and Julia's children remained here in Bradley County, Arkansas. However, there are no records here of John Thomas' family prior to his arrival here. I have been working on this for several years and made trips to South Carolina in my search. I do hope that someone here may be able to provide a missing link.

203 - - junesam@bellsouth.net - Seeking info. on the John Taylor/Jemimah (Mima) Carney 1837 marriage in Madison Co. MS. Mima was the dau. of half-Choctaw Jeremiah Carney and Emmahka. Three children were born to John/Jemimah but I believe the Taylors divorced due to a lawsuit brought by Jeremiah Carney against Taylor for land fraud. Who are the three children of this Taylor marriage and where did they live after Jeremiah died in l848? Would like the line of this family as I believe they stayed in MS and did not emigrate as other children of Jeremiah/Emmaka. Any suggestions to find this family will be deeply appreciated. Zachary Taylor had six children. Only three survived. Zachary Taylor's only son had only female offspring. Any insight on this mystery would be greatly appreciated.

194 - - flo77@localnet.com - Hello to everyone! My grandfather's name was John Howard Taylor. I'm not sure where he was born, but he was an ordained minister for the Pentecostal Fire Baptize Holiness Church. He was born May 20th, 1877, and died in Augusta, Georgia on August 1st, 1922. His ordainment certificate said June 24th, 1922 Lanett, Ala. I believe he was ordained previous to this date as well. He married Lillie May Parker from Augusta Georgia. I'm looking for information on his parents, which would be my ggrandfather. Theres a possibility that he was born in Gates County, Florida. Thank you for your time, and God Bless!

193 - - monkeysocks2002@yahoo.com - Please read the entire posting, it relates changes in my research. . Also, in addendum to the following posting, I have found Minnie J. Taylor married to Oscar Young and Nannie P. Taylor married to Ollie R. Johnson, both girls living in the Pemiscot Co. Mo. area. Tom and Nancy (Melton) Taylor were living in Caruthersville, MO (Pemiscot Co.) when Tom was killed by bushwackers. They had at least three boys, Albert, Bill, and John Daniel. Either Albert or Bill had at least two girls, Minnie and Nannie (they moved to Steele, MO). Nancy, and Bill died of the fever around 1878 and John Daniel, at the age of 17 was told to leave the swampy area or he would die, too. I think now, John went to Decatur Co. TN with brother Albert and lived with Dr. Lycurgus Gates (son of W.C. or Woodson Clay Gates and wife Lucinda Murphy) and wife, Emily Fisher (daughter of Jacob F. Fisher). In the 1880 census, John and Albert are listed as cousins living with Lycurgus and family. John then went somewhere in Texas and then back to Decatur Co. TN where he married my great-grandmother, Fannie Anderson Tucker (grand-daughter of George Washington Tucker, 1st blacksmith in Decatur Co.) on February 19, 1893. (Their marriage bond was co-signed by J.T. Ownby, son of Columbus "Lum" and Margaret (Murphy) Ownby, he was married to Cynthia Ownby, both are buried in Friendship Cemetery, Crockett Co. TN) John was born on May 22, 1861 and died Sept. 24, 1913. John and Fannie had Albert (married to Beatrice Tucker, daughter of Reuben Houston Tucker), Bill, Ellison, Nannie, Vester (my grandfather, married to Maude Fisher),Betty and a girl named Mary (died at age of two). My grandfather, Vester and Maude (Fisher) had my dad, John Sidney Taylor, and daughters, Ann Taylor Mims Lindsay and Eve Gilliam. I am desperately trying to find Tom and Nancy and what John Daniel did in Texas. On the TN census of 1910, John Daniel Taylor said both parents were born in Tennessee and my grandfather, Vester Taylor wrote on his army papers that his father (John Daniel Taylor) was born in Tennessee. Does anyone recognize this family? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Addendum to this posting!! I have found (with the most gracious assistance of a wonderful cousin, Ben Rinehold) that Nancy Taylor was living in Decatur Co. TN with sons, John Daniel, William, and Albert, next to Lycurgus Gates and wife Emily Fisher and daughter Lucinda; Margaret Murphy and children. I am ASSUMING now, that perhaps Tom Taylor was not living in Pemiscot Co. when he was killed by bushwackers, that Nancy moved her boys there after Tom was killed and that is where Nancy and son, Bill or William died of the fever OR Nancy and William died in Decatur Co. TN and Albert and John moved to Pemiscot Co. MO. There is strong evidence, not yet proven, that Tom could have been the son of Nancy Crow and Tom Taylor who died before 1850. I also think there is a connection with the Murphy family perhaps through Nancy Melton Taylor. If this is your family, please contact me. I have had wonderful assistance from cousins and other researchers and I sincerely appreciate all of the help.

190 - - m.more@mchsi.com - Our grandmother, Lila Engler More's parents were HELEN ARMILLA TAYLOR (7/3/1861--6/15/1916)& Charles Sebastain Engler(1/7/1858--3/24/1936)of Casseville, Wisc. He was a boot/shoemaker & his parents were from Berlin. Helen's parents names were DELILA & JOHN TAYLOR who Lila said was a cousin of PRES. ZACHARY TAYLOR We have also found Helen's older sister was FRANCEL (TAYLOR) GARNER. With so many JOHN TAYLORS & without a middle name we are at a loss to find his father's name who was supposedly an uncle of PRES. TAYLOR. Even though Lila lived to be almost 104 and knew who all the people in her photo albums were, we did not realize she had marked very few. Fortunately two were of her mother & father. We also found the names of Helen's children (7 girls & 1 boy). We have traced the other branches of our family back to Europe and would like to find the correct names of the TAYLOR line. If anyone can help us with more info. we would appreciate it very much.

Around 1900 she married a Taylor and they resided in Maine. She had a daughter around 1908 and her name was Grace M Taylor. Grace later married a Brown and she taught school in Rockport Maine. I need this information since Rosine was my grandfather's sister.
