Vonda was born 2 Jan 1911 in Huntsville, Utah to Charles Frederick Thurston and Eliza Bel Walker. On 18 April 1932 she married Vern Allen Coy in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They had four sons and one daughter. Vern was a son of Walter James Coy & Sarah Taylor, daughter of Joseph Allen Taylor & Sarah Lake. Joseph Allen was the son of Joseph Taylor & Mary Moore.

Vonda graduated from Ogden High School. She was a member of South Weber Camp of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers, and was an active member of the LDS Church, serving in various callings, including Sunday School teacher. Her interests included, gardening, reading, needle work and especially her family.

Vonda May passed away of causes incident to age, 12 Nov 2000 in Roy UT. She had 20 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren at the time. Interment was in the Ogden City Cemetery. Thursday, 16 Nov 2000.
