David Spencer Gunnarson (1913-2000)

David was born 23 Aug 1913 in Ogden UT, the son of David Gunnarson and Jenny Jenkins Gunnarson. He was reared and educated in Ogden, graduating from Ogden High in 1933. He later graduated from the University of Chicago in Illinois where he received his degree in Physical Therapy. While in Chicago he also studied law. David served as the head of the St. Benedictís Physical Therapy Department. He also served as the head of the Communications Branch at the Defense Depot, Ogden during World War II. He also worked as the manager of Nutritional Services for the elderly in Weber County, held the position of Justice of the Peace in North Ogden and cartooned for Colliers Magazine.

David was a member of the LDS faith, serving two home missions. He served as a counselor in the High Priest Quorum, President of the Elder's Quorum, and an Ordinance Worker in the Ogden LDS temple. David received an Eagle award in the scouting program. He enjoyed cartooning, listening to classical music, reading about Ancient Egypt and his grandchildren.

David married Florence Brown 7 Jun 1940 in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple. Florence passed away in October of 1975 after battling cancer. She was the daughter of Nephi James Brown & Nancy Vilate Taylor, daughter of Levi James Taylor & Gennet Flora Bingham. Levi James was a son of Pleasant Green Taylor & Clara Lake.

David married 13 May 1977 in Provo, Utah. They had five children.

He passed away 21 Nov 2000 in North Ogden UT, following a courageous battle with cancer. He had fourteen grandchildren and five great-grandchildren when he passed away. Burial was 25 Nov 2000 in the Ben Lomond Cemetery, North Ogden.
