Marian Cherry (1918-2000)

Marian was born 22 Feb 1918 at the Cherry family home-place in Warren Co, near Bowling Green KY to William B. Cherry I and Cora Belle Gott. Her family included pioneers, educators, lawyers, ministers, and farmers. Marian attended Western Kentucky State Teachers College and in 1938 married Robert Daniel Stephens II of Miami FL. The couple had one son. They were later divorced and Marian married Alvaro Salazar of Columbia, South America. Marian was employed by the Miami School System until she retired in 1983 and moved to Atlanta.

She died 29 Sep 2000 in Atlanta GA. She had twin grandchildren at the time. Cremation was in Stone Mountain GA and ashes buried in the Cherry family plot in Bowling Green KY.

Marian was a granddaughter of George Washington Cherry & Martha Frances Stahl. George was the son on William B. Cherry & Frances Taylor. Marian's uncle, Henry Hardin Cherry, was the founder and long-time president of what is now Western Kentucky University.
