Creek area in Martin/Pitt/Edgecombe counties for generations. I have
never been able to make a connection with other researchers. I have
traced my line back to about 1800 but can not find the next link. I am
hoping that in someone else's research, they may have come across some of
these names and can help. 195 - jdgkbt06@hotmail.com - I am searching for more information on my THOMAS TAYLOR born abt 1748 married MARTHA [Unknown] abt 1770 and died 9 Aug 1815 [in Tennessee? Thanks in advance. 194 - flo77@localnet.com - Hello to everyone! My grandfather's name was John Howard Taylor. I'm not sure where he was born, but he was an ordained minister for the Pentecostal Fire Baptize Holiness Church. He was born May 20th, 1877, and died in Augusta, Georgia on August 1st, 1922. His ordainment certificate said June 24th, 1922 Lanett, Ala. I believe he was ordained previous to this date as well. He married Lillie May Parker from Augusta Georgia. I'm looking for information on his parents, which would be my ggrandfather. Theres a possibility that he was born in Gates County, Florida. Thank you for your time, and God Bless! 193 - monkeysocks2002@yahoo.com - Please read the entire posting, it relates changes in my research. . Also, in addendum to the following posting, I have found Minnie J. Taylor married to Oscar Young and Nannie P. Taylor married to Ollie R. Johnson, both girls living in the Pemiscot Co. Mo. area. Tom and Nancy (Melton) Taylor were living in Caruthersville, MO (Pemiscot Co.) when Tom was killed by bushwackers. They had at least three boys, Albert, Bill, and John Daniel. Either Albert or Bill had at least two girls, Minnie and Nannie (they moved to Steele, MO). Nancy, and Bill died of the fever around 1878 and John Daniel, at the age of 17 was told to leave the swampy area or he would die, too. I think now, John went to Decatur Co. TN with brother Albert and lived with Dr. Lycurgus Gates (son of W.C. or Woodson Clay Gates and wife Lucinda Murphy) and wife, Emily Fisher (daughter of Jacob F. Fisher). In the 1880 census, John and Albert are listed as cousins living with Lycurgus and family. John then went somewhere in Texas and then back to Decatur Co. TN where he married my great-grandmother, Fannie Anderson Tucker (grand-daughter of George Washington Tucker, 1st blacksmith in Decatur Co.) on February 19, 1893. (Their marriage bond was co-signed by J.T. Ownby, son of Columbus "Lum" and Margaret (Murphy) Ownby, he was married to Cynthia Ownby, both are buried in Friendship Cemetery, Crockett Co. TN) John was born on May 22, 1861 and died Sept. 24, 1913. John and Fannie had Albert (married to Beatrice Tucker, daughter of Reuben Houston Tucker), Bill, Ellison, Nannie, Vester (my grandfather, married to Maude Fisher),Betty and a girl named Mary (died at age of two). My grandfather, Vester and Maude (Fisher) had my dad, John Sidney Taylor, and daughters, Ann Taylor Mims Lindsay and Eve Gilliam. I am desperately trying to find Tom and Nancy and what John Daniel did in Texas. On the TN census of 1910, John Daniel Taylor said both parents were born in Tennessee and my grandfather, Vester Taylor wrote on his army papers that his father (John Daniel Taylor) was born in Tennessee. Does anyone recognize this family? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Addendum to this posting!! I have found (with the most gracious assistance of a wonderful cousin, Ben Rinehold) that Nancy Taylor was living in Decatur Co. TN with sons, John Daniel, William, and Albert, next to Lycurgus Gates and wife Emily Fisher and daughter Lucinda; Margaret Murphy and children. I am ASSUMING now, that perhaps Tom Taylor was not living in Pemiscot Co. when he was killed by bushwackers, that Nancy moved her boys there after Tom was killed and that is where Nancy and son, Bill or William died of the fever OR Nancy and William died in Decatur Co. TN and Albert and John moved to Pemiscot Co. MO. There is strong evidence, not yet proven, that Tom could have been the son of Nancy Crow and Tom Taylor who died before 1850. I also think there is a connection with the Murphy family perhaps through Nancy Melton Taylor. If this is your family, please contact me. I have had wonderful assistance from cousins and other researchers and I sincerely appreciate all of the help. 192 - marthadarleneT@yahoo.com - I am searching for anyone related to Franklin Taylor, & his son James Monroe Taylor, from the Texas area.
