Frances was not listed on the Will of her father, but I believe
thatcan be
explained due to the fact that her father sold land to William
B.Cherry
for a minimal amount (Deed of Gift) in Edgecombe Co, NC on 25 May1802.
(Could their wedding have been 25 May 1802, instead of the usual
dateof
25 May 1805 carried down by descendants?)
Note: Frances died of a fever, according to Death Records from KY in
my possession.
Info from desc. William Bailey Cherry, Jr. book on the Cherrys
andother Allied
Lines, in my possess.
She was also known by the name of "Frankie". Her burial place
isunknown.

She was married to William B. CHERRY on 25 May 1805 in , Edgecombe, North Carolina. William B. CHERRY was born about 1766 in , , North Carolina. He died on 22 Sep 1828 in , Warren, Kentucky. He was buried in , Warren, Kentucky. !Birthdate and death date obtained from Cherry family records as
hedied 22 Sep
1828, age 62. (Note: an early L.D.S. record says he was born 22
Apr1770.)
Mr. Morton Stahl, desc., of Rockfield, Ky, says Wm was born in
1762.His
middle initial of "B" was on an early land record of
hisfather-in-law, Joseph
Taylor, Jr. in Warren Co, KY. The "B" probably stood for
"Bailey",since that
name carried down to several descendants.
Marriage: Cherry family records say 25 May 1805, but a land record in
Edgecombe County from Joseph Taylor, Jr. to William Cherry, was 25 May
1802. So marriage could be that date.
Info from DB-10-324, Edgecombe Co, NC. William Cherry, Sr, of
MartinCo, NC

Wasthis also

Research done by Lloyd Raymer, Anna, KY, to find out why William
B.Cherry is
called "Captain". He said: "It seems that William Cherry was not
asoldier in
the War of 1812. There is little doubt that the term "Captain
WilliamCherry"
that is found in many local sources, came from the fact that he was
a"Captain"
of a militia or taxation group here in Warren Co. in 1812 (Court
OrderBook D).
I failed to find anything else to help on this matter." Nov 4,
1996Ltr.
