Note: John L. was the 2nd son and 4th child of a family of
9children. At the
age of 9 yrs, he moved to Warren Co. In Dec 1875 he moved to
thevalley of the
Little Muddy Creek, Butler Co. and purchased a large and fertile
farmwhere he
engaged in stock raising principally. He served in the Civil War
andenlisted
in Co. A, 11th KY Vol. Inf, and served until Sep 1865. He
wascaptured at the
Holston River nr Knoxville and was taken to Richmond and Belle
Isle,where he
remained 9 mos. Mr. and Mrs. Norris were members of the
PresbyterianChurch.
