"FARMER DIES IN ACCIDENTAL GUN DISCHARGE
John Houston Lamastus is Victim At Hunt This Morning--Lived
atRiverside--Is
Survived by His Wife and Seven Children--
John Houston Lamastus, a prominent farmer of the Riverside
vicinity,this
county, met instant death at an early hour this morning while
squirrelhunting
in a few minutes after he left his home. The shot was heard by one
ofhis sons
who found his father's body near a fence and the shotgun by his
side.It is
thought that the weapon was accidentally discharged while
climbingover the
fence. He left his home, telling his family that he was goingsquirrel
hunting. The load took effect in the face and head.
Coroner John Jones was summoned and held an inquest. The verdict
wasthat he
came to his death from an accidental discharge of a shotgun.
Native of Warren--
Mr. Lamastus was born in Warren county sixty-three years ago and
wasa son of
the late B. M. Lamastus and Sallie White Lamastus. He was
twicemarried, his
first being Miss Prucilla Young, to whom four children were
born,Hobart, Leo,
Baron and Frank Lamastus. His second marriage was seventeen years
agoto Miss
Lelia Raymer, who survives with three children by the last
marriage,Raymond,
Johnie Rue and Mabel Lamastus, also one brother, Luther Lamastus
andthree
sisters, Mesdames Allen Cherry, Fannie Milam and Lottie Jones. He
wasa
brother of the late Oscar and K. T. Lamastus of Riverside vicinity."

"FARMER DIES OF WOUNDS HE GOT WHILE HUNTING
John Houston Lamastus Accidentally Shoots Self Fatally--
John Houston Lamastus, a farmer residing near Riverside,
thiscounty, died
early this morning after shooting himself with a shot gun
whilesquirrel
hunting. Mr. Lamastus left his home this morning between five and
sixo'clock,
saying he was going hunting and had only been gone a short time
whentwo shots
were heard.
Raymond, young son of Mr. Lamastus, heard the discharge of the
gunand
wanting to see what his father had shot, ran to the scene. He
foundhis father
mortally wounded.
Physicians were summoned and the wounds in the injured man's
headwere dressed
but he died a short time afterward.
Mr. Lamastus was alone at the time of the tragedy. He was about
50years
old.
Coroner John Jones, of this city, was called to hold an inquest
buthe had
not reached Riverside at two o'clock this afternoon.
Mr. Lamastus is survived by his widow, five boys, Holbert,
Bayron,Leo, Frank
and Raymond and two girls, Johnny Lou and Mable.
Funeral arrangements had not been completed at press time
thisafternoon."

but she/they are buried at Oak Forest (just down the road). Sorry

gentle, soft, humble lady to be sure. I am glad now that I
