Funeral Services to be Conducted Tomorrow--
Mrs. Celeste White Cherry, 87, mother of Mrs. Elizabeth
CherryMcCallum, 1503
Nutwood avenue, died at 3:20 yesterday afternoon following a
longillness. The
body was taken to the Gerard mortuary. Funeral services will be
heldat 10
o'clock Saturday morning at the mortuary. Services will be
conductedby the
Rev. Charles E. Hawkins, pastor of the State Street Methodist church.
Interment will be made in Fairview cemetery, by the side of
herhusband, Rev.
J. T. Cherry who died June 25, 1936 at his home in Elkton.
Mrs. Cherry was born in Warren County, January 13, 1857,
thedaughter of
Hezekiah and Mary Ann Hudnall White.
She was married to the Revd Mr. Cherry, a Methodist
minister,February 29,
1876. The Rev. Cherry was a brother to the late H. H. and T.
C.Cherry of this
city. Three years ago she suffered a fractured hip in a fall at
thehome of
her daughter, Mrs. R. N. Coleman, New Market, Ala., since that
timeshe had
been confined to her bed. She came to make her home with
Mrs.McCallum, March
15.
Besides Mrs. Coleman and Mrs. McCallum, she is survived by two other
daughters. Mrs. Frances Cherry, Pontiac, Mich., and Mrs. T.
A.Tichenor,
Calhoun, Ky. One son, A. C. Cherry, Yakima, Wash., one sister,
Mrs.Bob
Norris, Morgantown, James White of Paducah.
She was a member of the Elkton Methodist Church."
