fromthe barn
this morning while feeding the stock and hurt me quite badly, but
notbad
enough to prevent me from going to Kaysville to attend the funeral
ofAunt
Elizabeth Ann Criddle. Father and his wives, Jane and Sarah Jane
andmy
bros. Harvy, Alfred, and Alexander also went. There was a largenumber
present. She was highly respected. The funeral services were held
inthe
meeting house and conducted by Bishop Barton. The singing was
good,as well as
the talking. Elder Jos. H. Grant, Pres. of the Davis Stake was one
ofthe
speakers.
He said that Pres. Snow told him in the Salt Lake Temple that if
awoman have
two husbands and children by both that in the next world each
fathermay claim
and will stand at the head of his own, and there will be no
takingfrom one and
giving to another. This may depend upon the faithfulness of
thefathers, but
if both are faithful each will have all that he has here.

JosephTaylor came
here, bringing the sad news that Samuel D. Driggs was dead and
thatAllen
Taylor would be here with his corpse in an hour or so
whichaccordingly was the
case when we went to the burial and returned about dark.
When I was north a week since he was well and hearty but took
sickthe day I
left and died last Monday night. He was attacted with what
wassupposed to be
an inflamation of the lungs. 45 grains of calomel was given
himwithout
producing an opperation. He died with the calomel in him. He
leavesa wife
and five children to mourn his loss."
