funeral of my uncle, James Taylor of Fair View, Oneida County,
Idaho.He was
a man greatly beloved because of his honesty and integrity,
andhundreds came
out to show respect to him. Some 65 vehicles followed to
thecemetery. I met
many relatives and friends. I stayed one night at a hotel at
Preston,one
night with my sister Amanda Marler of Lewiston, and one night
withHenry Dixon,
my cousin, of Preston.

5,1907, I
visited Aunt Sarah Taylor, wife of Uncle James Taylor, at their
homeat Fair
View, Idaho. She described the last sickness of Uncle James who
diedon the 3
Inst. He had been sick about 3 weeks, and was first taken with
achill and
swelling of the Privates. It then settled in the legs and one
legseemed to
have died and was amputated above the knee.
P. G. Taylor sends the following message to Uncle James'
family.'Tell his
wives--I would have been glad to come if I were able. James was one
ofthe
best brothers and one of the best sons I have ever known. I want
themto all
come and see us and my home shall be their home and I promise
thefamily that
James has gained Eternal life.'
Nov. 6th--Attended the funeral of Uncle James Taylor. There was
alarge
attendance. All could not get into the spacious meeting house.
Themeeting
house was nicely draped. The first speaker was Pres. Waddoups
whospoke highly
of him of acts of kindness and who at an early day furnishing team and
conveyance to haul the Stake Missionaries to distant wards.
Pres.Waddoups
also gave good words of council--to the family. Elder
McNeelfollowed. Then
Pres. Solomon Hale delivered an excellent address.
The following also made remarks: L. J. Taylor, Joseph A.
Taylor,John A.
Taylor, Samuel Parkinson, Pres. Jos Gaddes spoke well. Elder
Bidelyalso
spoke very highly of him. Bishop Edwin Bodly had been
intimatelyacquainted."

He was married to Sarah Maria HYDE on 8 Jan 1860 in Salt Lake City, Salt Lake, Utah. Sarah Maria HYDE was born on 30 Apr 1843 in Payson, Adams, Illinois.
